Microgaming’s new Divine Riches Helios is a Greek mythology themed slot which relies in some common game features that have been proven to work well in other releases. The base layout used in the game is quite common as well; you got 5 reels with 4 rows in each, creating a total of 30 winlines.

 

Overview

The graphics are done in a cartoonish style which suits the game and theme well. The main man of the game is Helios himself of course, the Greek sun god, which is standing proudly on the left side of your reels and also used as the most valuable symbol of the game. What makes the Helios symbol even more special, is that it is the only symbol which pays wins both ways, meaning that you can land wins to your winlines starting from the last reel towards the first reel as well. Another special symbol is the Wild-symbol, which will replace any other paysymbol on a winline to create a winning combination.

Definitely one of the main features of the game are the four different fixed jackpots that you can win. This is done through the Blazing Bonus feature, which can randomly start on any spin where you land a bonus overlay token on top of one of the symbols on your reels. In the feature you get to play a mini-game where you click and reveal jackpot symbols from a 3×4-sized grid, and once three matching jackpot symbols are revealed you win the corresponding jackpot. You are always guaranteed a win here, and the biggest jackpot level is also the biggest win you can get in this game with a single spin. Here are the four different levels of fixed jackpots that can be won;

Big Jackpot: 15x your stake
Major Jackpot: 40x your stake
Mega Jackpot: 200x your stake
Divine Jackpot: 5,000x your stake

This slot also has a Free Spin feature, which starts when you land minimum of 3 Scatter symbols anywhere in your reels. You get either 8, 12 or 16 free spins to start the feature with depending on if you got 3, 4 or 5 scatters. The feature plays otherwise similarly to the base game, but here you will also see a meter on the left side of your reels which counts the Helios-symbols you land during the feature. If you manage to collect at least 12 of them during the free spins, Hand of Helios feature will be triggered. This upgrades your lowest paying symbol to one level higher paying one and rewards you with +2 extra free spins. You keep collecting the Helios symbols and upgrading the lower paying symbols until all symbols have been upgraded all the way to the Helios or until the Free Spin feature ends.

We definitely had fun with the game, but it really doesn’t offer anything mind-blowing or super innovative. The features it has are very basic and seen on many slots before, but it is still a well nicely done game all the way to the graphic and sound design. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to get overly excited for either.
