It’s nice to see the spring in full force; the sun is shining, the birds are chirping their happy tunes and the Fire Toads are jumping around the volcanic pond.. Wait what, Fire Toads? You read that completely right, these hot flaming frogs are in the center stage of Play’n GOs newest release Fire Toad!
Overview
The game plays on five reels with 1024 ways to win, and the setup stays the same both during the base game and the free spin feature. The theme and the main feature of the game resolves around these fantasy frogs with the Symbol upgrade feature.
Perhaps the most important symbol to keep an eye on is the Firefly symbol, which works both as a regular wild and a scatter at the same time. Two of these Firefly symbols will trigger the Symbol Upgrade feature, while minimum three of them would trigger the Free Spin feature.
The symbol upgrade feature will randomly take one of your higher value symbols from the symbols depicting the frogs evolution from a tadpole to a toad king. Once a symbol is randomly selected, all the other lower value frog evolution symbols in the playarea will be upgraded to the chosen symbol.
If you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters during the base game, you activate the Free Spin feature with 9, 12 or 15 free spins respectively. The Free Spin feature also includes the Upgrade feature, so when your Free Spins are triggered you also get the first upgrade. You can collect more free spins during the active feature as well as landing 3, 4 or 5 more scatters will bring you 3, 4 or 5 more free spins as well. The Upgrade feature is also triggered each time you collect more spins, meaning that at the end of the Free Spin feature you could have all your valuable symbols upgraded to Toad Kings! Here are the upgrade levels for the evolution frog symbols:
Level 1: Fire Tadpole becomes Young Fire Toad
Level 2: Young Fire Toad becomes Fire Toad
Level 3: Fire Toad becomes Adult Fire Toad
Level 4: Adult Fire Toad becomes Fire Toad King
Chanz verdict
We really enjoyed the visual style of this slot and the story it tells with the toads and their evolution all the way up to the King Toad. The gameplay itself is very enjoyable and even more so if you enjoy slots with the Symbol upgrade feature, which has been seen many times before in other Play’n GO games as well.
