Hot Potato Battleground is played on a 7×7 grid using a cluster pays system. Winning clusters form when five or more matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically.
After a win, the symbols involved disappear and an avalanche fills the empty positions with new symbols. If another winning cluster forms, the process repeats until no new wins or features are triggered.

Key Features
Exploding Wilds
Winning clusters create one of three types of Exploding Wilds, each with a different blast area.
- Potato Wild explodes across a 3×3 area.
- General Potato Wild affects a larger 5×5 area.
- Sniper Potato Wild clears symbols horizontally and vertically across the grid.
Wilds can also land randomly during regular spins and avalanches. Whenever they appear, they explode during the current sequence.
Multiplier Grid
Explosions are closely connected to the Multiplier Grid.
When an explosion covers a position, it creates an x2 multiplier there. If another explosion overlaps the same position, its multiplier doubles, with individual positions able to reach x128.
When multiplied positions contribute to a win, their multipliers are applied to that winning cluster.
High-paying symbols are protected from explosions, so they remain on the grid even when they are inside the blast area.
The sequence continues as long as new wins or features keep the avalanches going.
Land Support and Sniper Support
Two support features can add more Exploding Wilds to an avalanche sequence.
Land Support is represented by a Turret symbol. If the symbol is caught in an explosion, the feature activates after new symbols have dropped onto the grid and adds three Potato Wilds.
The Crosshair symbol activates Sniper Support in the same way, but adds three Sniper Potato Wilds instead.
The injected Wilds can replace low- or medium-paying symbols and always explode. Only one Land Support and one Sniper Support feature can be active during the same sequence.
Air Support and Radar Symbol Transformation
Other support features wait until the current avalanche sequence has ended before activating.
If a Walkie-Talkie symbol is destroyed by an explosion, Air Support can drop five Scout Wilds onto the grid. It can activate up to three times in one sequence, allowing as many as 15 Scout Wilds to appear.
Destroying a Satellite Dish activates Radar Symbol Transformation. This changes one low-paying symbol type into a medium- or high-paying symbol. Up to three different symbol types can be transformed during one sequence.
Nuke Feature
The Nuke Feature is activated when an explosion destroys the Red Button symbol.
Once the avalanche sequence has ended, the Nuke awards a respin and doubles the existing multipliers on the Multiplier Grid, provided no Air Support or Radar Symbol Transformation is waiting to activate.
The Nuke can trigger once during each sequence.
Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatter symbols in the base game awards 8 Free Spins.
The Multiplier Grid resets when the bonus begins, but from that point onwards, multipliers remain in place between Free Spins. This gives explosions across several spins the opportunity to build multipliers on the same positions.
