Blackjack is one of the world’s most popular table games both in the traditional brick and mortar casinos as well as on the internet. The game was originally invented in the 18th century France, and the simple rules make it a great game for anyone to learn and enjoy. Lets recap the most important rules – how to actually play blackjack?
How to play Blackjack
Your objective is to beat the dealers hand by getting your card count as close to 21 as possible, while making sure that you wont go over 21 and bust the hand. Normal numeral cards represent their pip value, all face cards are valued at 10 and an Ace is representing either 1 or 11 depending on the players choice.
When the actual game round begins, everyone is being dealt two cards and this includes the dealer. However, one of the dealers cards will remain hidden, so you see only one of his starting cards at first. The hidden card will be later revealed once all the players have made their actions, and the dealer must always stand at 17. So as an example, if the dealer has 7 as his visible card and his second card is a King which is valued at 10, his total would then be 17 and therefore he must stand there and cannot take any more cards. Then again if his total is 16 or under, he has to take a new card and he cannot decide to stand.
Those are really all the main things you absolutely need to know to play this magnificent game! Everything else after comes down to personal preference and tactics more or less, as it is completely up to you how you want to play of course. As a general guideline however, you probably don’t want to take more cards if your starting two cards total value is 18-20! Remember that hand which goes over 21 is a bust and automatically lost.
