Although there is still one WRC round to go, Robert Virves and Jakko Viilo have already secured the WRC2 title. The formal confirmation will come later, but the points in the WRC2 standings speak for themselves.

The championship outcome became clear on September 17, when the FIA announced the cancellation of Rally Saudi Arabia. The rally was due to take place in November, but was called off because of the uncertainty in the region and related challenges. With no replacement round planned, Rally Italia Sardegna in early October will now be the final WRC event of the season.

After Rally Chile, Teemu Suninen was the only driver who still had a chance of catching Virves in the WRC2 standings. To do so, however, he would have needed the opportunity to score points in two more rallies. That is no longer possible.

Four WRC2 Wins

Virves and Viilo opened their WRC2 points tally with a win at Safari Rally Kenya in March. Their second victory came at the Acropolis Rally in Greece in June. They then won Rally Estonia in front of their home crowd, followed by another victory at Rally Finland.

In Paraguay, Virves went off the road on the opening stage, losing valuable time and any realistic chance of a top finish. But in Chile the Estonian crew was back on the podium with second place in WRC2. The result also secured Virves the 2026 WRC2 Challenger title.

One More Rally to Go

The WRC2 season is not over yet. Virves and Viilo will also compete at Rally Italia Sardegna from October 1–4, bringing their successful WRC2 year to a close in Sardinia.

Chanz has supported Robert throughout the season, and we are delighted to see what he and the entire team have achieved through all their hard work.
