The Biggest Song Contest in the World is ON

It’s that time of year again. The lights are up, the cameras are rolling, and the grand finale of the world’s most spectacular song competition is about to take center stage in Basel, Switzerland. After months of national selections, rehearsals, and two drama-filled semi-finals, 26 finalists are now set to deliver one unforgettable night of music, emotion, and pure magic.

First Time for Basel

• Basel is hosting the contest for the first time ever, and the city has gone all in — from a buzzing riverside music village to oversized disco balls across the city.

• This year’s theme, Unity Shapes Love, celebrates connection and inclusivity, with a stage design full of glowing heart motifs, sweeping visuals, and a modern, emotionally charged atmosphere.

The Songs Are Set

This year’s musical mix is as unpredictable as ever. From emotional ballads to electro-pop experiments and genre-bending showpieces, there’s something for everyone. Some entries aim straight for the heart, while others go for spectacle with daring costumes, bold choreography, and a wink of humour.

And yes, the Nordic countries have shown up in full force! Sweden and Finland lead as fan favourites, one with a joyful sauna party, the other with a provocative dance-floor banger. Denmark delivers a hypnotic electro track with emotional punch, Norway blends soaring vocals with touches of Nordic folk, and Iceland adds a modern edge with polished electro-pop and confident stage presence.

But wait — Estonia’s entry is something else entirely. We’ve got Tommy Cash on the stage. His song Espresso Macchiato is weird, wonderful, and wildly catchy. He blends art-pop, surreal visuals, and just enough espresso to keep the audience wide awake. You might love it, you might not, but you definitely won’t forget it.
