Yggdrasil invites players into a haunting journey through Greek mythology with their latest release, Valley of the Dead. Overview
Valley of the Dead is set against a dark and mysterious backdrop, depicting the shadowy underworld of ancient Greek legends. The game features five reels in a diamond shaped 1-3-5-3-1 symbol layout and there is 243 ways to win. However, the total symbol grid is actually 5×5 sized – the Skull symbols outside that diamond shaped layout are so called BoltLock locker symbols. Each time you land a winning combination, the symbols in that combination will release a soul that unlocks one of these BoltLock locker symbols, effectively increasing the size of your grid and making it easier to land further winning combinations. If you manage to remove all the BoltLock symbols you would have total of 3,125 ways to win instead of the basic 243.
And it doesn’t stop there! Additionally, once all the BoltLock symbols have been removed, your further winning combinations still release souls but now they are collected into one of two feature meters. You have two kind of souls at this point; blue and red ones. Blue souls fill up the blue meter which is a multiplier meter, and every five collected blue souls will increase your win multiplier by one. Red souls on the other hand fill up the red extra life meter and every five red souls gets you one extra life. Extra lives are automatically used on a losing spin, allowing you to continue your spinning spree.
Finally there is a feature called OnlyWins. Like the name suggests, when this feature is activated it’s guaranteed to get a win on every spin. However, this also comes with a price – 4.4x your stake of a price to be exact. So you will be paying almost five times the normal stake for your spin, but also guaranteed to get some kind of win and return on it. In our tests we didn’t really feel like this feature is really worth it – but I’m sure some players will find it useful and fun!
